Atkins Gallery
Atkins Gallery is a boutique gallery located within Founders Heritage Park in Nelson, New Zealand. The gallery deals exclusively with Toss Woollaston artworks, courtesy of the Toss Woollaston Trust. Many of the paintings and drawings focus on landscapes of the Nelson/Tasman region, where the artist spent most of his life. Sir Mountford Tosswill (Toss) Woollaston (1910 - 1998) is Nelson/Tasman’s most celebrated artist and an important pioneer of modernism in New Zealand.
The paintings come directly from the late artist’s collection, care of the Trust, who provide a Certificate of Provenance to guarantee the authenticity of each artwork.
The gallery is located in the Anchor Inn building at Founders Park and holds several exhibitions a year, with all artworks for sale.
The gallery was started in 2017 by Linda Atkins, who has fourteen years’ experience in art galleries in Auckland, and as co-director of Catchment Gallery in Nelson from 2004 until 2007. She has a Master of Arts (Hons) in art history from Auckland University and appreciates the importance of Woollaston’s place in modern art in New Zealand. She can advise clients on investment art and provides a successful secondary market resale service in the gallery, alongside promoting Woollaston artworks.
The gallery provides a unique place in Nelson to view Woollaston artworks in person and will pack and send your purchase for free around New Zealand if you would like to add a Woollaston to your art collection or home.
